Youth Provision- Hyde Housing

A comprehensive feasibility of Youth provision and aspirations was carried out in South London on three separate housing estates. In Elmer's End this research informed Hyde's approach to tackling youth issues and to target any provision from other organisations to the youth on the estate.   For Stevenson Crescent we undertook a youth consultation exercise in the area that fed into a joint RSL bid to the Football Foundation. On Nazareth Gardens we carried out a survey of local residents and providers to find out what young people wanted in terms of youth provision on the estate and carried out an assessment of what is provided in the area from other organisations such as LB Southwark's Youth services, the Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder, as well as other local voluntary and community organisations.

Housing Information centre

With the establishment of the local housing Trust it became increasingly important for local residents to participate in the process and to share in the benefits that the Trust was able to deliver. We led on the development of the Information Centre providing a focus for much of this work and opportunities for the Trust to make a significant and positive presence in resident's lives. The Centre provided residents with a multi-purpose building including community facilities and information on the development process as the Trust commenced its physical works to the three housing estates. Through the Centre the aim of the organisation was achieved by an increase in resident involvement and an improvement in resident's skills by providing residents with information, access to advice and training facilities and by providing a base for a range of community activities.
