Urban Nexus was commissioned to assist in the process of producing guidance and recruitment process through identifying, implementing, supporting and piloting the draft framework of standards that will be provided to all public institutions who wish to engage Muslim Chaplains in public services in UK. The aim of this work was to formalise the standardisation of processes ensuring that there is the reduced likelihood of individuals getting access to vulnerable individuals within key institutions like prisons, universities, further education colleges, immigration centres etc.
Urban Nexus piloted the standards and recruitment process with four prisons, three NHS Primary Care Trusts and a Further Education college, around the country. The final framework and recruitment process provided experince of Muslim chaplains in the above sectors and informed on the support and guidance for statutory public institutions, to stimulate an increase in standards in the public sector as a whole and to help ensure that consistent standards are developed across sectors. |
